Kids on SundaysChildren_are_Welcome

Children are always welcome at church in our parish and we are blessed by them!

  • The Children’s Sunday Program is part of the Sunday Worship and is prepared to help children absorb the rhythm of the worship service and be encouraged in creative response to the story or theme for the day.

  • Other special happenings such the Christmas Eve Nativity in the grounds at St. Andrew's, where children dress up for this special story of our faith attract large numbers of local and holidaying folk.

Come and See Playgroup

  • About 40 pre-school children, along with their mums, and the occasional dad

  • So that the groups are not too big we work in two groups – half have a music and storytelling session first, while the others enjoy playgroup and then come to music.

  • The music is a mixture of recorded music and familiar songs. There are lots of percussion instruments for the children to play and even babies as young as 6-8 months can join in the music

  • Playgroup time is in the hall, where our team of 8 volunteers, (two are retired kindergarten teachers), organise our creative craft activities.Sue_Sandplay

  • We are also able to offer the services of Sue Boggan , a qualified family counsellor.

  • Morning tea is provided for everyone

Music and Storytelling Playgroup started with two goals:

  • The first is to give young mums the chance to get together get together, especially those who have moved to the Peninsula from elsewhere and do not have a network of family and friends
  • The second is to provide a creative base for children that can be built on as they grow older
